We are excited to report that on April 26, after a full day of filming both on and beside the tribe's sacred place of origin, the Tonkawa Documentary has finished principle photography.

About one-hundred tribal members came down to Naton Samox or Red Mountain, (formerly Sugarloaf Mountain), in Gause, Texas to celebrate their mountain purchase.  For most tribal members it was their very first visit to this mountain, and for many their first-ever visit to Texas!

While rain often threatened nearby both the Friday setup day and the Saturday powwow day were both rain free, which helped us tremendously.  In fact what might have been a too-warm sunny April day was tempered by overcast skies (perfect for filming) and a steady southern breeze.  In the final minutes the sun popped through the clouds giving us some nice panoramic shot options.

Most all of the tribal members we had been following were present and the mood was great as the afternoon wore on. As always, a few surprises arose we had to work through, but a seasoned crew that was already finishing strong, relied on its ability to anticipate the shot needs and covered the many simultaneously moving parts, in a filming event that had many "must have" shot needs.

With Sunday to rest the work on post-production accelerated on that next Monday to meet aggressive goals we had knowingly set for ourselves. The end is now in sight at the edge of the horizon.
