We are proud to announce our film has been awarded a grant from the Texas Historical Foundation!

"We are absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to support this project," said Ryann Griffin, Director of Grants at the Texas Historical Foundation. "The Tonkawa people have played a vital and under-examined role in Texas' long history, shaping the trajectory of the state and former republic in ways that have for too long been overlooked. "Tonkawa: They All Stay Together" promises a timely examination of their contributions and culture, past and present, working in close partnership with the tribe to contextualize their legacy as they return to their ancestral home in Texas. This is an extremely important project."

Since 1954 the mission of the Texas Historical Foundation (THF) has been to preserve Texas history. That includes conserving artifacts, restoring buildings, archiving documents, gathering and sharing stories, and safeguarding Lone Star culture. We are honored that the Tonkawa's story will now be among those that are carried into the future.  "For Texas we will---and for Texas we must!"

The Texas State Historical Survey Committee (now the Texas Historical Commission) was created by the Fifty-third Legislature on June 4, 1953, to identify private preservationists and the location of the state’s endangered historical artifacts and papers. The Texas Historical Foundation was established on January 11, 1954, to provide most of the TSHSC funding. In 1971, as the State assumed a funding role for the Survey Committee, THF began to independently seek out worthy projects, explore critical preservation, and establish endowments that supported programs around the state. This good work continues today…all supported by private donations…nearly 70 years later.

A huge thank you to the Texas Historical Foundation for believing in our project and helping us shine a light on the past to inspire the future!
